Frequently Asked Questions | WinePod Personal Winery

Q: Where can I purchase a WinePod?
A: You can purchase a WinePod directly from ProVina, Inc. Please contact us at 877-922-3122 or at customerservice@winepod.net, and a ProVina sales consultant will assist you.

Q: How much wine can the WinePod make at one time?
A: A "standard" lot in the WinePod requires 15 gallons of frozen, de-stemmed grapes. This will produce about 4 cases of wine.

Q: Do I need to assemble or install the WinePod when it arrives? Where is the best place to put it in my home?
A: The WinePod unit does not require assembly or installation. It will be shipped/delivered to your home ready-to-go. The WinePod will fit through any standard residential doorway and plugs into household electrical services. Your WinePod should be placed on a flat surface in a well ventilated location that allows for the space needed and potentially messy nature of winemaking. Outdoor use is limited to locations that are shaded and protected from precipitation or freezing.

Q: Where do I get grapes to use in my WinePod?
A: ProVina provides you with the highest quality, premium grapes from proven vineyards in world-renowned growing regions. Our grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, de-stemmed and quick frozen, so that you can produce Napa Cabernet or Sonoma Pinot Noir year round. We ship the grapes to you directly in 6 gallon food grade pails, complete with a detailed analysis by a leading TTB-approved wine laboratory.

Q: Will I need other supplies to use with the WinePod?
A: Yes, you will need other items to make wine in the WinePod such as: grapes; winemaking accessories/tools; yeast/additives; testing equipment; bottling supplies and barrels. ProVina sells a full range of winemaking products such as the WinePod Accessories, Consumables, and Bottling Kits; and French Oak barrels and premium grapes. Q: Can I legally make wine?
A: Yes, in general, federal law allows for up to 100 gallons of wine per adult per year.

Q: I have my own grape source, can I still purchase a system?
A: Yes, many of our customers want to use their own grapes. The WinePod unit will manage the fermentation of your must; and, the WineCoach software will record data during the process and store it in history for future reference.

Q: What happened to the waiting list?
A: Every U.S. waiting list customer was sent an email with the opportunity to purchase a WinePod in the first quarter of 2008. If you did not receive the email and still wish to purchase our products, please contact us immediately at 877-922-3122 or at customerservice@winepod.net. Everyone will have an opportunity to purchase a WinePod this year, and a ProVina sales consultant will schedule you into the earliest available shipment date.

Q: I do not reside in the US, can I buy a WinePod?
A: We are excited by the global response to our product. We are in the process of exploring international distribution and representation in the regions with greatest demand for the WinePod. Your input will help to determine our efforts. Please sign up to reserve your WinePod and be sure to note your country of residence. We will keep you informed via email with the most up-to-date distribution information.

Q: Will I be able to buy frozen grapes in my country of residence?
A: At this time the export of frozen grapes is not possible. We hope to have contracts in place with your local grapes growers to support your winemaking with the WinePod.

Q: Does the WinePod have a warranty?
A: Yes. The WinePod has a two year limited warranty.

Q: Can I make white wine in the WinePod?
A: Yes, you can make white wine in the WinePod. At this time, the WineCoach software does not support a white wine making process, but we intend to create one in the near future.

Q: Can I make beer or sake in the WinePod?
A: Maybe. At this time we are researching a sake process. Details will be posted on our website as they become available. Beer is not possible at this time because the WinePod is not capable of the crucial step of boiling.

Q: Can I make cider, perry, or other fruit wines in the WinePod?
A: Yes. Your WinePod can control and manage any fermentation process. Dedicated fruit wine software is under consideration for future development and we encourage fruit wine enthusiasts to contact us at customerservice@winepod.net
